How long does shipping take?

We use Canada Post express shipping for all our orders. Orders usually arrive within 2-4 days; however, during busy shipping times or during extreme weather this can be delayed. We ship them mites with a food source so that they can be in the mail for up to 10 days without the numbers being effected.

I received my mites but can't see anything moving in the package. Now what?

It is normal for the mites to accumulate in the centre of the media during transit. As mentioned on the pamphlet included in your order, try emptying some or all of the package out onto a flat, dark surface which allows you to thin the media out and get a better look. You should be able to spot movement if you watch for a couple minutes. Often times once you spot some movement you will then notice the entire area come alive with the little mites as they start to come out of the media. Both the Grub Grenade and Canopy Control mites are around .5mm or smaller but the adults are visible to the naked eye. Grub Grenade mites are pale brown to orangish in color and Canopy Control mites are translucent to white in color.

I've ordered before and it looked like there were way more mites. Why does this package seem differemt?

We dilute our pure mite culture with media by doing microscope counts based on mobile adults, young nymphs and eggs. Only the adults are visible by the naked eye which means that if there were more eggs and nymphs within the culture that week, your package may seem like it has less mites until the eggs and nymphs become mobile and visible.

Why ship with Canada Post!?

We ship all over the country including small rural communities. When the weather is hot or cold we need to have to option to be able to ship as 'card for pick-up' where the mites are held in a climate controlled location opposed to being left in a hot/cold mailbox or front porch where the mites would perish. Often times the smaller communities do not have FedEx, Purolator or other shipping companies within their communities which is why we need to use Canada Post. Believe us, we have tried other methods and this is the most successful!

I live in an apartment. Can you ship directly to me instead of 'card for pick-up'?

If you live somewhere where you have a climate controlled mailbox or are able to bring the package in immediately after delivery then you can email us directly after placing your order and we can customize your shipping method. Please remember that this is a perishable item and during extreme temperature they cannot be left outside or in mailbox or they will perish.

Will Grub Grenade help with aphids?

No. Grub Grenade is a soil dwelling pest so it will have ne effect on pests that are on the foliage of your plant.

Can I water my plants after applying Grub Grenade?

Yes. You can water your plants normally after applying either of our products, just try to avoid standing pools of water.

I've previously used pesticides on my plants, will that harm the mites?

Yes. If you have recently used any type of chemical or home based concoction that is meant to deter pests, it can affect our mites. Even if it doesn't kill them it can alter their searching or mating behaviour. We recommend giving it at least a couple weeks to flush out the soil and plant tissue. We cannot guarantee the results if you've used a systemic application in the past!

I still see gnat flying around after 1 week. Is it working?

Grub Grenade mites will eat the eggs and pupating larvae in the soil, but they will have no effect on the adults currently flying around. You either need to trap the adults with sticky traps or wait for them to die off on their own. Full results can take up to 6 weeks but you should notice a decrease in adults every week.

How can I ensure my mites stick around?

The mites will naturally decrease as the pest pressure drops, but they can survive on organic material within the plant/soil and wind blown pollen when there are no pests. If there is suddenly pressure again the mites reproduction will increase naturally in response. Canopy Control (fallacis) thrives when humidity is above 60%, so try to keep it above that if possible.

I want to use Grub Grenade outdoors. How do I apply it?

Avoid applying in temperatures below 5 or above 25 degrees celsius. It is optimal to apply this product mid-day when it's on the cooler side or evening if it's hotter. This will allow time to for the mites to acclimatize to their new environment and allow them borrow down where they are a little more protected. Water as normal but avoid standing pools of water.

Can I apply both products at once?

Yes! These products work great together, as GG takes care of soil pests and CC takes care if foliar pests.

I want to order but I'm nervous due to a previous bad experience shipping a perishable product. Advice?

We stand behind our product and want every customer to leave satisfied. Please reach out out to us if you have any concerns with your order when it arrives. We do our best to package products accordingly based on weather trends, etc. but at the end of the day as soon as it leaves our facility it is out of our hands so we rely on our customers for communicating if something goes wrong. We know this product works so if it does not, something has gone wrong. Maybe it involves tweaking your growing conditions, the wrong product for the pest you are trying to eradicate, previous treatments you have tried that are not compatible with our mites. Or, maybe unfortunately the mites were damaged en route and we need to send a replacement- either way, let's talk about it and find a solution that leaves the customer happy!
